Foundation Extends Scholarship Application Deadline

The application deadline for the Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship has been extended to October 16. This scholarship is designed to recognize graduate nursing students who aspire to leadership positions in academic nursing. See scholarship details and eligibility requirements here


AACN and QGenda Launch New Scholarship to Support Nursing Students in Baccalaureate and Graduate Programs

AACN and QGenda are pleased to announce the launch of a new scholarship program to support the preparation of new nurses and those seeking to advance their education. Open to nursing students pursuing baccalaureate and higher degrees at AACN member institutions, this program will award nearly $50,000 in scholarships through 2025, which will be administered by AACN’s Foundation for Academic Nursing.


2023 Future Nurse Leader Scholarship Award Recipients Announced

The Foundation for Academic Nursing is pleased to announce the 2023 recipients of the Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship. With funding provided by Liaison International, AACN’s partner in NursingCAS, this year's award winners are Nkemdilim "Kelly" Diaz, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) student at Winona State University, and Rika Win Kemp, a DNP student at the Medical University of South Carolina.


AACN and The Foundation for Academic Nursing Announce Two New Scholarships

Scrubin-AACN Scholarship
This new program will provide at least three $2,500 scholarships annually to nursing students from AACN member schools with a formal affiliation agreement with Scrubin Uniforms.  Schools seeking more information about partnering with Scrubin Uniforms to give students access to the scholarship are encouraged to contact Matt PaneGasser at mattp@scrubin.com.

NurseThink-AACN Scholarship
This new program focuses on preparing future nurse faculty. The scholarship is open to students enrolled in master’s and doctoral programs at AACN member institutions and are members of AACN’s Graduate Nursing Student Academy. The scholarship program will provide $5,000 to students twice a year through 2026.


2021-2022 AACN Faculty Scholar Grant Recipients Announced by the Foundation for Academic Nursing

The Foundation for Academic Nursing, the philanthropic arm of AACN, is pleased to announce the 2021-2022 recipients of the AACN Faculty Scholars Grant Program. The nurse educators to receive funding to launch scholarly projects are Dr. Laurie Kennedy-Malone from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for her work on Enhancing Nurse Practitioner Competency-Based Education and Assessment with Innovative Video Simulations, and Dr. Kristen Munyan from Oakland University for her work on Enhancing Laboratory Infrastructure to Support At-Risk and ESL Students.


AACN Announces New Funding for Faculty Scholars Program

On May 7, 2021, the Foundation for Academic Nursing announced a second round of funding for the AACN Faculty Scholars Grant Program. The program is aimed at highlighting the innovative work being led by nurse educators to redesign teaching and learning at AACN member schools.  A total of $50,000 in funding will be distributed to support two $25,000 faculty scholarship projects through 2022. Two awards were previously awarded in the 2020-2021 academic year.


AfterCollege Relaunches Scholarship Program through AACN’s Foundation for Academic Nursing

AACN is pleased to announce that the AfterCollege-AACN Nursing Scholarship has been renewed and will be administered by AACN’s Foundation for Academic Nursing. This annual $10,000 commitment will provide the opportunity for nursing students to complete their education and enter the nursing profession.


Inaugural Award Winners Announced for the Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship

On January 29, 2021, The Foundation announced the inaugural award winners for the Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship. 


Hurst Review/AACN Nursing Scholarship

Hurst Review and AACN are partnering to offer this scholarship program that recognizes and rewards entry-level nursing students for outstanding academic performance. All applicants must already be enrolled in an AACN member institution and maintain at least a 3.2 grade point average in their current program or last school attended. To check if your school is a member, see our member directory. One scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be distributed three times yearly. The application deadlines are August 1, January 1, and May 1


New Scholarship for Graduate Nursing Students

On September 21, 2020, the Foundation for Academic Nursing announced the creation of the Deborah E. Trautman Future Nurse Leader Scholarship. Funded by Liaison International, AACN’s partner in NursingCAS, this scholarship and leadership development program was created in honor of AACN’s President and CEO Dr. Deborah Trautman. This $3,500 scholarship is designed to recognize graduate nursing students who aspire to leadership positions in academic nursing. In addition to $2,000 to cover educational expenses which is sent directly to the student, scholarship recipients will participate in a one-on-one leadership development experience with Dr. Trautman at AACN’s headquarters in Washington, DC. Up to $1,500 of the scholarship award will be used to cover travel expenses for the three-day leadership development program.


Faculty Scholars Grant Program

Last fall, AACN announced a new research grant program for nurse faculty. Funding for this program was raised through proceeds collected from sponsorships in AACN’s 50th Anniversary guide. More than 150 schools of nursing and colleague organizations contributed to this guide, which raised $100,000.  The funding will be distributed to support four $25,000 faculty scholarship projects through 2022. Two awards will be offered in the 2020-2021 academic year, and two will be offered in the 2021-2022 academic year. The focus of these scholarly activities should reflect current issues in nursing education or practice and support of AACN’s strategic priorities.
