AACN Applauds Increases in Omnibus for Education and Research

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2018, (H.R. 1625) signed into law on March 23, funds the federal government through September 30, 2018. The omnibus package provides increased investments in nursing education and research, as well as approximately $4 billion to address the opioid crisis. Of particular interest to AACN members, the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs received $249 million (a 9% increase from last year), and the National Institute of Nursing Research received $158 million (a 5% increase from last year).
