AACN Board Chair Testifies Before House Energy and Commerce Committee

On September 14, AACN Board Chair Juliann Sebastian, PhD, RN, FAAN, testified before the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Health, on H.R. 959: Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2017. The hearing, titled, Supporting Tomorrow’s Health Providers: Examining Workforce Programs Under the Public Health Service Act, examined four federal programs aimed at increasing the healthcare workforce and expanding access to care. Dr. Sebastian pointed to the programs’ longstanding success in ensuring a highly-educated and diverse nursing pipeline to care for patients in all communities, including rural and under-served areas. The Subcommittee members expressed strong bipartisan support for the programs.
