AACN Nominee Selected for CDC Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women Wednesday, May 15, 2019 AACN applauds the selection of Lisa Astalos Chism, DNP, APRN, NCMP, FAANP for the Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women. This federal advisory committee provides advice and guidance to the Secretary and Assistant Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the formative research, development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based activities designed to prevent breast cancer (particularly among those at heightened risk), and promote the early cancer detection and support of young women who develop the disease. Dr. Chism is the clinical director and certified nurse practitioner at the Women's Wellness Clinic, Karmanos Cancer Institute. She serves as adjunct assistant professor at Madonna University School of Nursing and adjunct assistant professor at Wayne State University School of Nursing. This nomination, led by AACN, was in collaboration with our colleagues, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the American Organization of Nurse Executives.
