New Incentive Offered to Nursing Schools Participating in the NCLEX-RN Competition sponsored by the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence, Khan Academy, and AACN

"How-to" Webinar Planned for January 6 featuring
Khan Academy Content Creator and Nurse Ryan Patton

NEW YORK, December 11, 2013 - The Jonas Center for Nursing ExcellenceKhan Academy and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) are pleased to announce that a new incentive is now available to nursing schools with multiple students participating in the recently announced NCLEX-RN Competition.  Through this international initiative, nursing students and other healthcare professionals are encouraged to create innovative video tutorials and exercises related to content covered in the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®). Winning tutorials will then be made available to students, clinicians, and the public for free through the Khan Academy website (see more details below).

As an incentive for schools to encourage robust student and faculty participation, the first 25 schools with 3 or more students and/or faculty entering the competition will receive a $200 Amazon.com gift card courtesy of the Jonas Center. Schools receiving this gift will receive recognition on the Khan Academy website once the NCLEX-RN competition winners have been announced.

"The Jonas Center is pleased to sponsor this competition, which celebrates the creativity and ingenuity of nursing students while showcasing new approaches of nursing education," said Darlene Curley, Executive Director, Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence. "We encourage all nursing schools to show their commitment to educating the next generation of health professionals by disseminating information about this competition to students and encouraging multiple entries from the same school."

Schools wishing to receive the $200 incentive must notify program planners once three students and/or faculty have sent their video submissions to Khan Academy for consideration.  Please email the names of your school's contestants to Dr. Karen Kesten at AACN, and a gift card will be emailed to you once the submissions have been verified. Only the first 25 schools requesting an award will be eligible to receive the incentive.
