DC Medical Examinerto Speak on the Social Determinants of Health at Upcoming Conference Wednesday, September 19, 2018 At the Academic Nursing Leadership Conference (ANLC) in October, Dr. Roger A. Mitchell, Jr, the Chief Medical Examiner in the District of Columbia, will speak on "The Impact of the Social Determinants of Health." Dr. Mitchell will provide conference attendees with a unique view of the social determinants of health as they relate to public safety and population health outcomes. He recently co-authored position papers on The Violence Epidemic in the African American Community for the National Medical Association and the Definition, Investigation, Postmortem Examination and Reporting of Deaths in Custody for the National Association of Medical Examiners. Dr. Mitchell is a graduate of Howard University (DC) and New Jersey Medical School. The ANLC will be held October 27-30, 2018, at the JW Marriott in Washington, DC.
