Policy Watch: Higher Education Funding and Title VIII Updates Tuesday, April 29, 2025 On Wednesday, April 23, the President signed a series of education-related Executive Orders, including ones, including ones designed to reform the accreditation process, promote apprenticeships and skilled-trade education, support Historically Black Colleges and Universities, limit foreign funds at American universities, and support robust Artificial Intelligence education. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon released a separate statement on each of the Executive Orders. Share Your Voice Policy Updates: On April 22, AACN joined with leading colleges, universities, and scholarly societies calling for constructive engagement with governing institutions and agencies to better serve the American people while rejecting undue government intrusion and the coercive use of public research funding. On April 25, AACN signed on to a coalition letter urging Congress to reject the proposed budget cuts across HHS and ensure that essential programs protecting American’s health remain adequately funded. On April 17, AACN joined with other nursing associations in urging Congress to support Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs.
