Rounds with Leadership - Taking the Lead on Information Curation

Welcome to Rounds with Leadership, a new forum for AACN's Board Chair and President/CEO to offer commentary on issues and trends impacting academic nursing.

Since 2001, AACN News Watch has been a reliable source for information on the association's current initiatives, upcoming programs, and strategic opportunities for member schools. As information needs and preferences evolve, so must AACN's principal communication vehicle, which now reaches nearly 40,000 subscribers.

Starting this month, AACN News Watch will be produced as a weekly advisory to provide more dynamic content and ensure timely updates on the latest news for AACN members and external constituents. This publication will feature more streamlined content and a few recurring new sections, including:
  • A Weekly Digest featuring brief summaries of news items, journal articles, and reports covering hot topics in health care and higher education.

  • The Social Pulse showcasing the latest online campaigns and postings from AACN's multiple social media platforms.

  • Rounds with Leadership, which provides a new forum for AACN's Board Chair and President/CEO to offer commentary on issues and trends impacting academic nursing.

Streamlining AACN News Watch is a key component in AACN's plan to expand its work in the area of information curation, which is defined as the process of discovering, collecting, organizing, and presenting information related to a particular topic or issue. Though AACN has always provided resources requiring information curation - including data briefs, fact sheets, talking points, newsletters, and policy papers - the association is taking steps to enhance its portfolio of services in this area. Driving this work is AACN's new strategic plan, which calls for AACN to serve as "

the authoritative source of knowledge to advance academic nursing through information curation and synthesis.

"
