New Salary Data Reports Now Available

AACN now offers faculty salary data at a state-level for all faculty, instructional faculty, and administrative faculty, based on the 2023-2024 annual survey. In addition to state-by-state comparisons, these reports are helpful in assessing your school’s performance in relation to all programs across your state.

2024-2024 Faculty Scholars Grant Program Now Accepting Applications
May 6, 2024

The Faculty Scholars Grant Program is now accepting applications for its 2024-2025 cycle! With a total of $50,000 in funding available, two $25,000 faculty-led projects will be supported through 2025. The theme for this academic year is Innovation in the Use and Measurement of Simulation Pedagogy in Nursing Education. Proposals that explore the impact of simulation-based education on student transition to practice outcomes, using various methodologies, are encouraged.


AACN Reaffirms Support for Full Implementation of The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education
April 30, 2024

AACN is committed to achieving the preferred future for nursing education outlined in the 2021 Essentials and to communicating the fundamental "WHY" behind the importance of fully embracing this call for transformation. This framework for nursing education was developed in response to the need for nurses who are well-equipped to navigate today's complex and rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. Developed with input from practice and academic leaders over a consensus-building, two-year period, the Essentials received overwhelming support through a vote from AACN's national network of more than 875 member schools of nursing.


AACN Launches New Web Resource Focusing on Preparing Nurses with Essential Well-Being and Leadership Competencies
April 25, 2024

AACN has launched the Developing Nursing Well-Being and Leadership Tool Kit for faculty working to prepare new nurses with key skills needed to succeed in the healthcare system, specifically in the areas of well-being, self-care, resilience, and leadership. Funding for this resource was provided by the Johnson & Johnson Foundation with the goal of accelerating the transition to competency-based education in nursing and meeting the expectations outlined by AACN in The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education.


Upcoming Webinar Focuses on a Winning Approach to Curriculum Redesign
April 24, 2024

On Thursday, May 16, from 2:00-3:00 pm (ET), AACN is presenting a webinar titled From Outcome to Input: Maximizing Nursing Curricula with Backward Design. Join Dr. Jacquelyn McMillian-Bohler from Duke University to explore the benefits of backward design in curriculum transition, focusing on the 2021 Essentials and embracing competency-based education. By starting with the end goals in mind, nursing faculty can effectively map out learning objectives, assessment strategies, and experiential learning activities that foster deep understanding and proficiency. Explore how backward design aligns with principles of learner-centered instruction and promotes retention of content and competency development.

Apply Now: Faculty Scholars Grant

AACN is now accepting applications for the 2023-2024 Faculty Scholars Grant Program. A total of $50,000 in funding will be distributed to support two $25,000 faculty scholarship projects through 2024. The focus of these scholarly activities should reflect current issues in nursing education or practice and support of AACN’s strategic priorities.
